About the event

The female gender has survived over a century of struggles for emancipation. Universal suffrage, the right to decide for oneself and one's body, the possibility of being able to earn a salary and no longer having to be supported by one's family: all these changes occurred gradually but constantly, also thanks to an important process of self-analysis and awareness. Years of comparison with past and future reference models, of questioning the pre-established roles that society had assigned to them. To date, we have come a long way and, although there are still many aspects for public opinion to pay attention to, one thing can certainly be said: it is no longer what it used to be. And for the male gender? Can the same be said?

The male figure - or at least its most stereotyped version - still remains a point of reference in the contemporary collective imagination. People belonging to the sex once defined as "strong" are still burdened by many implicit demands of a social legacy that is no longer current, from "procuring" food to support the family to the need to be strong and impeccable on any occasion, just like a century ago. does. At this point it is right to ask ourselves a question: does it make sense to take these aspects for granted without questioning anything ? It is from this assumption that the second appointment of the GENERamente "Maschio a chi?" exhibition was born, designed to investigate the lack of reflection on the male gender in our present (and in the previous century).

The event, which will be held in the Sala Nones of Palazzo Benvenuti on Thursday 18 April from 6.00 pm , will see the intervention of the legal-psycho-sociological trio composed of Emanuele Corn , Ivan Pezzotta and Leandro Malgesini , author of the book " He was a good person . Views on male violence against women” (Il Margine, 2024) . The evening will have an interactive approach different from the classic conference, with the aim of questioning concepts that are only apparently obvious such as the latent male reference models of our society. the trio will explore new ideas, in which equal opportunities are not seen as a transfer of power from one sex to the other, with winners and losers, but as an enormous opportunity for innovation for men.

At the end of the event, completely free upon reservation at the following link , an aperitif will be held by Palazzo Benvenuti Caffè , in order to encourage the exchange of ideas, opinions and reflections that the evening will certainly stimulate.

The review The GENERamente project, born in the CLHUB coworking space and supported by the Bank for Trentino - Alto Adige, Bank für Trentino - Südtirol Credito Cooperativo Italiano, aims to explore in depth in six appointments six different topics that belong to our daily lives, often the cause of debate, in a popular and informative way.
